The GCSE Persian Gap

Why speaking Persian at home is not enough

Many students assume GCSE Persian is easy because they speak the language. But the exam tests much more than conversation.

Informal writing — texting-style Farsi doesn’t earn marks. The exam requires structured paragraphs with correct grammar.

Spelling errors — heritage speakers often make critical spelling mistakes that cost marks in the writing paper.

No translation practice — English↔Persian translation requires specific technique that daily chat doesn’t build.

No exam technique — knowing how examiners mark and using tenses strategically makes the difference between a 5 and a 9.

Frequently asked questions

Is this course suitable for native Persian speakers?
Yes. Many native speakers need support with formal writing, spelling accuracy, and exam technique. Speaking Persian at home is a great start, but the exam demands academic skills that our course specifically builds.
Does the course cover all four exam papers?
Yes. We prepare students for Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing — all aligned to the Pearson Edexcel specification (1PE0). Each paper is worth 25% of the final grade.
Can students join from outside the UK?
Absolutely. The course is fully online via Zoom. We have students joining from Dubai, Europe, and across the globe. You’ll need to find an approved exam centre in your country to sit the final exam.
Should I choose 1-on-1 or group classes?
If you want a structured syllabus from start to finish, the group course is ideal. If you’re cramming for the exam or need to fix specific weak points, 1-on-1 private tutoring is more effective.
Do you use real past papers?
Yes. Our materials include detailed analysis of recent GCSE Persian past papers, downloadable workbooks, and practice question banks for the Writing and Reading sections.
When does the course start?
Group courses typically start in September. 1-on-1 tutoring can begin at any time. Register now and we’ll match you with the right option.
