Why Students Struggle

GCSE Maths isn't just about formulas — it's about logic

Many students lose marks not because they can't calculate, but because they can't decode what the question is actually asking.

Question phrasing — exam questions use specific language. Students who understand the maths still get confused by how questions are worded.

Language barrier — bilingual students struggle with technical terms like "Quadratic Inequalities" or "Vectors" when English is their second language.

Time management — knowing the method but running out of time. Students need exam strategy, not just more practice questions.

Missing method marks — students find the answer but don't show working correctly. They lose easy marks on every paper.

Our Unique Approach

The bilingual advantage — maths explained in your language

Our tutors explain complex concepts in simple English with Farsi support when needed. This isn't translation — it's deeper understanding.

How it works in practice

When a student is stuck, our tutors break down the concept in both languages — building the bridge between understanding and exam performance.

Example: "Simultaneous Equations" Instead of memorising steps, we explain the logic behind elimination and substitution — in a way that clicks, using language the student actually thinks in.
Example: "Word Problems" We teach students to translate long English paragraphs into simple equations — a crucial skill for bilingual learners.
🧠

Understand, don't memorise

We teach the logic so students can solve problems they've never seen before — not just repeat patterns.

Frequently asked questions

Which exam boards do you cover?
We cover both Edexcel (1MA1) and AQA (8300) specifications. Our tutors know exactly how marks are awarded for each board and tailor lessons accordingly.
Do you cover Foundation and Higher tier?
Yes. We teach both tiers. Foundation covers grades 1-5 and Higher covers grades 4-9. We'll help you decide which tier is right based on your current level and target grade.
How does bilingual support work?
Our tutors teach primarily in English (as the exam is in English) but use Farsi to clarify complex concepts when a student gets stuck. This helps bilingual students build genuine understanding, not just memorise steps.
Should I choose 1-on-1 or group classes?
1-on-1 is best for students who need to fill specific gaps or are preparing close to exam time. Group classes work well for students who benefit from peer learning and want a structured weekly schedule.
What topics do you focus on?
We cover the full specification: Number, Algebra, Ratio & Proportion, Geometry & Measures, Probability & Statistics. We place extra emphasis on algebra and geometry — the topics worth the most marks and where students struggle most.
How soon before the exam should I start?
Ideally, start in Year 10 to build a strong foundation. But we also offer intensive revision courses for Year 11 students approaching exams. It's never too late to improve — book a free trial lesson to assess where you are.
