Before you start
Does learning calligraphy actually help with learning to read and write Farsi?
Yes. Practicing calligraphy builds letterform recognition and muscle memory in a way that typing doesn't. Many students find that calligraphy practice makes the Farsi alphabet "stick" faster than reading alone.
Do I need to already know Farsi to learn Persian calligraphy?
No. You can learn calligraphy purely as a visual art form even without reading Persian — though most students learning both find the two reinforce each other.
What supplies do I need to get started?
Your teacher will recommend beginner-friendly materials — a reed pen (qalam) or calligraphy marker, ink, and practice paper. Nothing expensive is required to start.
Are lessons private or group classes?
Both are available — choose private one-to-one lessons, or a live group class, depending on what fits you best.
Can children learn calligraphy?
Yes — calligraphy is a well-suited creative activity for children old enough to have basic pen control, typically from around age 7–8.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — you can book a free trial class to meet your teacher and try a session before committing to a full course.
